Contract Engineering 2006-2007 Manufacturing Engineer Noble International (Automotive supplier). New program launch duties including de-bugging and ramp-up of key processing equipment. Steelcase (Office Furniture). Program launch, working from the Corporate Development Center. Coordinated over 200 line-items of schedule and budget activities that kept the program on target.
Hart & Cooley Holland (Air Distribution Products) 2005-2006 Advance Engineer Managed relocation of a large paint line from the Midwest to Mexico. Prepared bid packages, managed the request for funds and project budget, oversaw the contracted rigging / shipping, installation, start-up, and training. Managed projects to rebuild an e-coat paint system and to rebuild/relocate a Powder Coat paint line for Arizona facility. Saved approx Ό million each with creative scope revisions. Goals of increased quality, productivity, and timely start-up were met. Holland, Michigan plant closed.
Jacobs Engineering Group Battle Creek - (Consulting Engineers) 2001-2004 Project Engineer III (Food Processing Equipment) Coordinated all technical aspects of capital equipment projects for a major food producing company. Managed a team of Designers, Process Engineers, contractors, and plant personnel. Defined project scope, prepared bid packages for equipment and installation, compiled the project budget and schedule, ordered and approved equipment shipment, construction managed installation team, coordinated run-offs and start-ups. Design/Build projects included a Sound Abatement project and a Conveyor Sortation System. Construction Management projects included Vision Inspection Systems in four plants; a series of Robotic product stacking stations for packaging; a Safety Platform initiative at six plants; and a Waste Treatment system.
HBDM Three Rivers (Custom Machinery Builder) 2000-2001 General Manager Involved in all design/build activities from quoting to run-off of custom machinery sold to automotive supplier plants. Major cut-back, laid-off.
Bangor Industries Bangor (Automotive Assy and Contract Plating) 1996-1999 Plant Engineer Responsible for new program launches. Activities included: quoting of plating, assembly, and machining jobs; specifying and purchasing of equipment and tooling; machinery layouts; full PPAP documentation such as Control Plans, FMEAs, Process Flows, etc. Highlights included successful launch of Big-3 plating contracts and automotive sub-assembly lines. Plant closed.
Hart & Cooley Holland (Air Distribution Products) 1990-1996 Product Design Engineer (1994-1996) Designed new products, using AutoCad, from concept, (with Marketing), through production launch. Coordinated capital requirements with Manufacturing, Accounting, and Quality. Managed project launch timing, quality, and budget.
Manufacturing Engineer (1990-1994) Replaced a solvent-based adhesive with a hot melt system. Creatively included new and used equipment. Replaced a pretreatment section of a paint line. Built the new equipment outside of the paint room, removed the dividing wall, connected the new equipment on a weekend, and started-up successfully without a disruption to production. Concepted, specified, quoted, ordered, and managed the installation of a conveyorized sortation system in the warehouse that lessened labor to pick and ship orders. Included tracking software. One million-plus in capital was paid back in just over one year.
