Senior Manager Global Transportation
Negotiated rates, managed carrier relationships, consolidated the transportation operations of sixteen acquired companies, directed three regional transportation managers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia Pacific, and an Operations Analyst auditing freight bills.

• Facilitated a bid process that resulted in reducing international air and ocean freight costs by $1.1 million annually
• Counseled Marketing Department in taking control of transportation on publications reducing freight cost by $150,000 annually

Director, North American Transportation (1998-2003)
Negotiated rates, contracts and claims with air, small parcel, truckload, rail, intermodal, common and international carriers. Continuous involvement in project management of customer rollouts. A $4.5 Billion co-op supplying 80,000 sku’s to 10,500 True Value, Servistar, and Coast to Coast hardware stores globally.

Inbound Transportation Manager (1997-1998)
Coordinated shipments from 3,000 vendors to 21 distribution centers through fleet back haul program (grossing $125 MM annually), truck load, LTL, small parcel, common and international carriers. Responsible for cross-dock, consolidating 100 MM pounds annually and 17 direct reports consisting of: Transportation/Merchandise Manager, Transportation Coordinator, Transportation Analyst, Warehouse Supervisor, Dock Supervisor, 10 dockmen, and 2 office clerks. Inter-faced with merchandise managers and inventory analysts to expedite critical orders and emergency shipments. Negotiated agreements with vendors for back hauling their shipments.

A $4 Billion computer products and office supply wholesaler.

Senior Transportation Manager (1993-1996)
Improved rates and service on ocean, air, rail, courier, parcel, household goods, LTL and truckload shipments moving from 450 vendors to 41 distribution centers. Managed three consolidations combining annually over 150 MM pounds of LTL shipments into truckloads. Coordinated domestic and international distribution of 6 MM catalogs. Responsible for movement of 200 import containers and 500 truckloads annually and assisted in developing third party business. Participated in planning $75 MM transportation budget.

• Implemented merger-related transportation consolidation activities contributing to $9.5 MM in annual savings.
• Coordinated linking of AS/400 with UPS mainframe, reducing proof of delivery request response time from 3 weeks to 30 seconds, significantly improving customer service and establishing United Stationers as the first company in marketplace with this capability.
• Increased order entry time by 5 hours per day by negotiating extended UPS pick up times as late midnight.

Transportation Manager (1992-1993)
Responsible for timely inbound movement of goods to 41 distribution centers and rate negotiation with carriers. Expedited distribution of 3.3 MM catalogs and advertising materials to 4,000 dealers.

• Received Chairman's Award for outstanding performance.
• Initiated and developed distribution program recovering over $4 MM in revenue annually.
• Doubled small parcel and airfreight discount by converting vendor prepaid shipments to company account activity.

A $30 MM manufacturer of office and currency counting machines.

Corporate Transportation & Warehouse Manager
Managed domestic and international distribution of manufactured goods to 50 branch offices and all import/export operations. Analyzed transportation modes for most cost efficient means of bringing in raw materials and finished goods.
