International Trade Specialist (Sales and Marketing)
Miami-Dade County, FL - December 2001 to February 2007
I was very successful at working to improve foreign market access for U.S. businesses and their products. Some companies are still benefiting from lucrative contracts from various parts of the world (I have businesses willing to serve as references). I also represented the interest of Miami-Dade County as a whole, and traveled the world with other entities selling Miami as not only a vacation destination, but also the best place to do business with the hemisphere, and worked to bring more flights and foreign airlines to Miami. Selling the County and its businesses is a tall order and to achieve my objectives I had to do some of the following:

• Conducted assessments of foreign markets to determine the best suitable to match with local businesses.
• Analyzed international trade statistics, trends and best prospects to determine suitability for trade potential, and future development of trading relationships for Miami-Dade companies.
• Conducted seminars and presentations on trade and economic development for domestic companies and for foreign companies in various parts of the world especially Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa.
• Planned and coordinated trade, business development, educational, and cultural missions all over the World; from Miami to Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean.
• Advised political leaders and Boards on trade related issues and recommended best courses of action.
• Wrote briefing books, position papers, advisories, annual reports, newsletters, speeches and presentations.
• Served as a primary liaison between the County and representatives of foreign governments in Miami-Dade County; particularly Consulates and Trade Offices.
• Planned, executed, and marketed trade shows, international conferences/exhibitions, and trade missions.
• Represented Miami overseas, and promoted Miami as a great place to invest, set up business, visit, and to trade in goods and services.
• Coordinated visits of government officials, and business delegations from various parts of the world including the Middle East.

Regional Director (Sales and Marketing)
Program of Academic Exchange (Federal) - 2000 to 2001
• Managed a region extending from Michigan in the North to Southern Florida. Providing full range of management functions including hiring, training, motivating, sales and processing payroll.
• Cold call families across the country to sell them the benefits of hosting a foreign student (mainly teenagers) in their homes for a school year. I was successful at that; which has to be one of the most difficult sales jobs.
• Worked with about forty-six countries and managed about thirty staff in the field.
• Worked closely with everyone at head office to achieve our goals – team work.
• Was able to work well with all the agencies and organizations whose help I needed.

Sales Manager, Marcus Evans (International Business) – Miami, Florida - 2001
• Called on company executives/decision (mainly VPs, Presidents, CEOs, CFOs etc.) and sold them the benefits to their company of attending those conferences, and convinced them to pay to participate in those events targeted to their industry and their needs.
• Organized business to business conferences based on current industry trends and needs.
• Researched businesses internationally to determine the fit between the conference and the various businesses.

Additional Information:
In my last training class of 13 people, I was selected as the one most likely to succeed. Out of the five who succeeded past the first two weeks, months later, I am the only one remaining from that class. One senior executive told me, “analysts, like good sales people have tools that cannot be taught; they are strong, dynamic, confident, good communicators, leaders with exceptional understanding and empathy”. He sighted me as possessing all these traits.
