Experience:
1. Project Planning and Business Office
Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles, CA Jan 2006 to Present
• Function as a Single Point of Contact for Foundation Systems (Kaiser Permanente’s Membership system). Communication with Business Segment Partner and business clients to properly address and direct the client’s requests to Foundation Systems
• Work with the various development and support teams in Foundation Systems to determine the resources availability, capacity, allocation and time line for each release. Maintain capacity and demand balance
• Work with the business clients to identify and prioritize the demand and plan the Foundation System releases accordingly
• Hold the role of a consultant to Senior Management on efficiency, resource utilization and process enhancement

2. Development Technical Lead
Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles, CA Feb 2004 to Dec 2005
• Leading a team of 30 COOL:Gen developers (9 FTEs and 21 contractors) responsible for the development of Kaiser Permanente’s California Membership Application, Foundation Systems.
• Screen contractors for open positions; participate in interviewing and hiring process.
• Resources utilization and Management.
• Mentor and/or assist programmer analysts using IEF and supporting tools.
• Support the department manager in preparing, reviewing, monitoring and re-forecasting the department budget

3. Project Manager
Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles, CA June 2003 – Jan 2005
• Manage projects through the full development life cycle. Projects in Kaiser follow CDP (Comprehensive Development Process) framework. Projects go through Qualified Idea, Concept, Development (RAD) and Implementation.
• Resources management, communication with clients for requirements gathering and sign offs, coordination with support teams and budgeting.
• Managed projects within Kaiser’s California Membership Application (Foundation Systems) including:
o IPAD/RMS retrofit to MERGE: Modifying external interfacing systems to accommodate changes implemented in Foundation System affecting the way Foundation Systems send information to its interfacing applications.
o DPA NonRetro Termination: A fundamental change to the membership termination process in Foundation Systems.
o UCOA (Uniform Chart of Accounts): Converting the general ledger account numbers which Foundation System reports to Kaiser’s General Ledger to a new stander account number format.
o Archive and Purge: Implement functionalities in Foundation Systems to enable moving older data record to Archive in order to keep production database size under control and production application running with optimum performance.

4. Programmer/Analyst
Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles, CA June 2000 to May 2003
• Designed and developed COOL:Gen code enhancing and supporting the functionality of Kaiser Permanente’s Foundation System.
• Major achievements included solution design and development of “Mismatched Balance Fix” functionality. A Client/Serves application with GUI interface providing automated data cleanup functionality to the user and saving enormous amount of time and effort that used to be spent on the manual process.
• Provided support to production application.
5. COOL:Gen/IEF Consultant
Social Fund for Development, Cairo, Egypt June 1999 to May 2000
• Designed and developed a Project Monitoring System. A COOL:Gen client/server application designed to track the progress of government funded national projects in Egypt. The Social Fund for Development is the government agency overseeing the utilization of international aid funds in Egypt.

6. Customer Support Manager
Enterprise Solutions Ltd., Cairo, Egypt Jan 1999 to May 1999
• Coordinated Sterling Software’s support service to the pool of COOL:Gen/IEF clients in Egypt.
• Managed IEF upgrade projects to key clients including the Egyptian Armed Forces.
• Conducted sales presentations and client training workshops.

• Engaged in the development of COOL:GEN/IEF projects for Sterling Software customers in the Middle East including:

8. C++ Programmer
ASSET, Cairo, Egypt Jan 1997 to Aug 1997
• Developed and tested Optical Character Recognition systems.
• Main development language was Visual C++.


9. Developer
Ministry of Youth and Sports, Cairo, Egypt Dec 1987 to Nov 1987
My first ever full paid IT job, I was 13 years old. I Performed Requirements Gathering, Design, Development (flat file Data Base with data entry interface and printing capabilities developed with GW Basic on DOS running on IBM PC XT), Testing and “production” data entry and results printing for the Youth World Championship in Modern Pentathlon. A competition where 60 player from 23 countries competed in 5 different sports. My system computed scores for all players in all sports and generated reports for ranking by player, team, country in each game and in total standings. The system also generated score booklets with graphics designed with LOGO "turtle graphics".
It was a complete success; I got credit for it in a national newspaper. One of the proudest moments in my life!
