CLEVELAND MOTION CONTROLS, Cleveland OH 2007 to 2007
Privately-held $50 million manufacturer of high performance motion control solutions that improve productivity. Company sold to ITT in late September, 07.

I was told that with ITT’s corporate HR staff and a team of HR integration specialists now in place, my skill level was no longer needed. It was explained that as the company moved forward there would be restructuring.
Human Resource Manager
Managed the Human Resource function for 3 facilities consisting of approximately 300 employees.
• Responsible for recruiting, employee relations, benefits and compensation analysis and administration.
• Managed the record keeping and tracking systems assigned to Human Resources. This includes recruiting, budget, government grants/legal requirements, FMLA, AAP/ EEOC, etc.
• Partnered with management team on special projects, succession planning, conflict resolution, improved communication, change management, career and organizational development including performance development.

DHL GLOBAL FORWARDING, Cleveland, OH 2006 to 2007
Division of the 7th largest company in the world and responsible for shipments by air, land and sea globally.

In my first three months with DHL, there was not a Director of HR in place to cover the eastern portion of the US. I was hired to cover the Ohio Valley which was part of the eastern region. During my tenure, a Director was hired that was given the responsibility to realign the eastern portion of the US. He brought in several of his own people and restructured the region.

Regional Human Resource Manager
Responsible for managing Human Resource and employee relations functions for the Ohio Valley and Northern Border stations until regional consolidations.
• Recruited to new position to manage tactical responsibilities for 16 stations covering over 725 employees.
• Accountable for improving processes due to integration of several acquired companies.
• Implemented programs focused on improving employee morale, retention, general data entry, employee/manager communication, companies future direction, etc.
• Assisted in developing a model of excellence in the DHL Global Forwarding HR Division.

SIMON ROOFING, Youngstown, OH 2005 to 2006
Privately-held $60 million commercial roofing company with 16 facilities within the US.

I started this position under a consulting project to recruit employees to restore New Orleans after Katrina. During this time, Simon wanted someone to start up a HR department at there facility in Youngstown, Ohio. This was a project assignment that I knew was not a career opportunity. After one year, I was recruited out by DHL.

Human Resource Manager
Assumed an interim consulting role, following Hurricane Katrina and the awarding of a government contract, to develop methods and procedures to recruit and hire 400 employees during restoration of Gulf Coast buildings.
• Managed Human Resource function for all US locations consisting of approximately 500 seasonal employees.
• Recruited and managed a new workforce for FEMA.
• Established an immigration program through the Romanian and US Embassies, including the assistance of US American Works Visa out of Washington DC.
• Managed and maintained a process of validation for an all-legal workforce in the US.

LUBRIZOL CORPORATION, Wickliffe, OH 1985 to 2005
A $3.4 billion specialty chemical company which owns and operates manufacturing facilities in 22 countries, as well as sales and technical offices around the world.
Human Resources Manager (1995 to 2005)
Responsible for managing the human resources function for the business development division, its 6 subsidiaries consisting of approximately 460 employees. Reported to Vice President.
• Developed / managed human resource strategic plan deliverables in areas of performance management, assessments, manpower development, and staffing.
• Conducted on-site due diligence for new acquisitions (several completed annually), assessing talent and developing and supporting integration plans.
• Identified ongoing organizational needs responding to business changes, developing new structures and addressing staffing needs, i.e. either through recruiting new talent or providing training programs for existing personnel.
• Consulted with and supported Employee Relations for the Wickliffe site providing performance evaluations, assessments and various management/supervisors tools.
• Implemented RIF’s (Reduction in Force), delivering announcements, coordinating corrective action documentation, developing severance plans, and addressing employee issues.
• Developed Union Avoidance video and classroom presentation for plant and facilities.
Human Resources Manager, Painesville Plant (1985 to 1995) (Training Center)
Responsible for directing a human resource team of 5 and providing employee relations support for a 476 employee plant.
• Together with Plant Management, established measurements and metrics, thus able to create a 5-year Human Resource strategic plan supporting operations.
• Developed and fostered an environment of self-directed work teams by redesigning sections within the facility and developing and administering new work rules.
• Managed the Empowered Workforce Process which included a plan for Lean Manufacturing.
• Established manager/supervisor guidelines for the Plant.

PICKER INTERNATIONAL, Cleveland, OH 1983 to 1985
Now known as Philips Medical, one of the leading manufacturers of diagnostic imaging and patient monitoring equipment with over 30,000 employees worldwide.
Human Resource Manager
• Managed human resources for Health Care Products Group, consisting of 838 employees in 21 field offices. Managed a staff of two.
• Managed delivery of personnel policies and procedures, employee relations, and staffing.
• Counseled employees relating to benefits, ADA, LTD, and Workers' Comp., etc.
• Participated in Union Negotiation for the manufacturing facility.
