Description The purpose of this project is to develop a new system in order to provide a global common Ocean Vehicle Logistics and Visibility in support of the GM’s IT Renewal effort. The scope of this project is to develop a user-friendly system for visibility which is totally integrated to the current system, flexible for adjustments and globally adaptable. Following functions are included in the scope of release 1.

• Track and Trace Vehicle Reporting (Dashboard Service)
The goal of the Freight Audit and Processing (FAP) project is to develop and implement a standardized business process and supporting system to validate, audit, and create payment authorizations to support global vehicle shipping.
The first release of FAP will create the initial implementation of the i2 footprint (SC Visibility & ABPP), implement the initial leveraged computing infrastructure, and provide visibility to freight events, starting with GME.

2. Freight Audit Payment (Define & Design) (Domain: Manufacturing)

Description The Freight Audit and Processing (FAP) will develop and implement a standardized business process and supporting system to validate, audit, and create payment authorizations to support global vehicle shipping.
FAP R1 (Release 1) is intended to be deployed in GME in 2008.
Plan phase of has been completed and the project is now in the Define/Design phase. The intent is use GIF as middleware for data exchange with GM internal systems and Covisint.
The expected outcome of the design phase endeavor is to provide complete design specifications for data exchange between FAP at one end and Covisint and GM internal systems at the other end. Also, estimate for construct-test-deploy phases has to be provide by the end of the design phase.

3. Vector CAI (Plan & Define) (Domain: Manufacturing)

Description The Vector Critical Applications In-Sourcing (CAI) project was initiated in response to the termination of a joint-venture between General Motors and Con-way Enterprise Services (CES). Vector was initially formed to provide IT support for GM material and vehicle logistics. Because Vector no longer exists, the systems within the 3rd party must be brought into the GM environment as soon as possible. Specifically, this project is responsible for the migration and upgrades of five global systems for inter continental business systems. The functionality of the ICC application will be transferred into a semi-standard GIF architecture but the remainder will be brought over as-is with only a few COTS product upgrades.

4. SOX remediation (Construct to deploy) (Domain: Manufacturing)

Description The Sarbanes-Oxley servers have open control deficiencies associated with the use of un-secured FTP. Use of generic FTP poses a security risk in that it transmits all data, including user ID and password, in the clear. Secure FTP is standards based and is a replacement for FTP that uses Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) to securely transfer data.
Quick and cost-effective solution to address application use of secured FTP protocol without requiring application re-engineering to become compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
