Promotions and Imaging/Production assistant Union Broadcasting Inc. (810WHB AM, ESPN 97.3 FM) in Overland Park, Kansas April 2003 to September 2004 Started out as an intern, learning the business and helping where available. Over time my responsibilities became two-fold. In the Promotion department, I was responsible for driving a station vehicle to locations where on-air personalities would be broadcasting on-site. I would set up all the equipment necessary to make this possible, communicate with the board operators at the station to ensure a proper connection was established, decorate the premises with banners, and make sure the on-air personalities had everything they needed. During the broadcast, my duties were troubleshooting problems/issues, talking to fans of the program and other customers of the establishment, and helping the on-air staff with anything they needed. At the conclusion of the broadcast, It was my job to pack up all the equipment, takedown all banners, and cleanup the area that was used. All that remained at this point was to drive the station vehicle back and unload all the equipment used. In the Production department, Some responsibilities were: • Transfer interviews from reporters into sound-bytes and input them into the server. • Take information from an advertising customer and create a commercial to their specifications, which was then played on-air. • Create Promos for on-air programs and upcoming events, such as concerts, on-site broadcasts, etc. • Recorded time-offs, sounders, and anything that was needed for a particular program. Was also a part-time weekend board operator, running live shows in studio and connecting the feed to a satellite for national sporting events. Crew Leader Silverleaf Lawn and Landscape in Overland Park, Kansas April 2005 to July 2007 During the duration of employment, was able to successfully ascend from the lowest position in the company, as a trimmer, to becoming the top-placed employee, overseeing employees whose responsiblities were trimming and leaf-blowing the customer's yard. My duties as Crew Leader were operation of a commercial lawnmower, trimming and edging, and cleaning up. • Was responsible for ensuring the weekly completion of over 100 residential properties. • Comunication with every customer was essential to making sure everything was completed to their satisfaction. • Successfully trained several employees in the proper way to handle all equipment. • Consistantly took pride in the work, always maintaining an extremly high standard of excellence set by myself. • Spent extra time off the clock maintaing the equipment and keeping the shop in order. • Kept an open line of communication between Owner, making sure everything ran as smooth as possible. Package Loader United Postal Service in Lenexa, Kansas December 2004 to May 2005 Was responsible for scanning and loading trailers at the UPS Hub in this area. • Maintained a consistant rate of at least 250 p.p.h. (packages per hour) with a missort rate of less than 1%. • Was often called upon to help pull down trailers that became backed up by a sudden barrage of packages. • Was commended on several occasions for having impeccable load quality, maximizing the available space and ensuring the walls of packages wouldn't shift during transit.
