Objective: Attain a position where my editorial, reporting and Internet writing abilities can enhance the team.
Experience: Contribute to the development of publication. Work with vendors to coordinate prepress production through editing requests with authors, photographers and graphic designers. Coordinate the preparation of written materials (print/electronic) and graphic format. Analyze, index, verify facts, typesetting and organize articles in a logical order to be used in publication. Conceptualize layout with graphic designers. Proofread all page proofs and confirm artwork for appropriateness. Review and restructure assigned writing materials for accuracy, content, statistics, grammar, style, tone, voice, logical organization, clarity and format. Suggest rewrites to authors as appropriate. Mentoring of interns.
Initiate ideas, investigate and write a variety of news articles through interviews, periodicals, and online resources; determining the validity of leads, tone and intended audience. Conform news articles to Chicago Manual of Style/Microsoft Manual of Style/AP Style as appropriate. Headline and feature writing. Investigative and special assignment reporting; court, political and criminal beat reporting.
Skills: Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Quark.
Additional Information: Provide Internet content through Internet research, online writing, discussion boards and blog development.
