Objective:
I know this is going to sound like a biography of myself but I truly think that the way I grew up and some of my trials tribulations and accomplishments are important in explaining the kind of employee I will be if you hire me to work for this company. I myself like to look at who a person is outside of work when I consider them for a job with my company.
As a child I was always working on things, taking them apart trying to figure out how they worked and putting them back together. I rebuilt my first engine at the age of 7 and by the time I was 11 I built a hovercraft for my 5th grade science fair, where by the way, I won first place. This was a full sized hover craft that could carry a 150lb person. I built my first radio when I was 12 and my first transmitter at the age of 13. At 14 I started building a small ultralight airplane witch I completed the next year. It flew well at the hands of an accomplished pilot but not in the hands of a young kid with no training like me. It almost killed me. I decided to sell it and put off my flying aspirations until later in life.
My father who was an industrial welder and master fabricator, as well as taught welding at the local technical college at night, taught me to weld from the time I was 10. I got my welding certification at the age of 16.My father was one of the major influences in my life. He instilled a do-it-yourself attitude in me that has carried me well through life.
By the time a left the Navy in 1987 I had an education in electronics and a will to learn. After working on cars for a little while I got a job as an apprentice technician at a local TV shop. Working there gave me hands on experience in troubleshooting and repair down to the component level on all sorts of electronic devices. Which led me to what I do today.
I have more certificates and certifications than I can list in this Resume and I am currently enrolled in th CIE Bachelor of Electronic Engineering program.
I have been a Private pilot since 1991, And was one of the founding members of the Orangeburg Pilots Association. A nonprofit organization which among other things maintains a pilots walk and memorial, a monument to aviation and the people who have made contributions to aviation. Among the names listed on it as well as the keynote speaker at the dedication was astronaut Frank Culbertson.
I have been a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, as well as the Experimental Aircraft Association for the last 15 years. I was one of the founders of our local EAA chapter 1367 where I served as there first president, and later vice president, and treasurer, and currently serve as the chapter Young Eagles coordinator.
I am an aircraft builder as well, I am currently building a Rand Robinson KR2s a wood and fiber glass composite plane. It should be completed in about a year. I have worked on many other types of aircraft over the years both amateur built and certified. Under the watchful eyes of an A&P with inspection authorization I have accumulated enough experience to take my FAA test to become a certified Airframe and Power plant technician. I am currently waiting my letter from the FAA authorizing me to do so.
I have extensive experience with both the installation and repair and calibration of aircraft avionics which I have done for the last 10 years.
I have been a member of Elks Lodge #897 for 3 years, and a member of the Cameron Southern Methodist church for 30 years.
