Objective:
I seek a Management position in Marketing/Promotions, Public Relations/Special Events or related field.


Experience:
RESTRUCTURED AND MANAGED one of the world’s largest Irish Dance Academies
• Restructured organization. This included redefining all job positions and hiring of new and release of existing personal, when applicable. Instituted policy changes and infrastructure procedures such as payroll submissions, dance location cost centers and a new database environment.
• Reorganized and, when necessary, omitted events and programs to obtain effective and efficient use of student’s, teacher’s and parent’s time commitments while maintaining the integrity of the organization.
• Designed procedures that clearly outlined company standards and requirements to insure volunteers understood their responsibility. Objective was to maximize the use of the organization’s volunteer base while maintaining the organizations high degree of professionalism.
• Continually searched for ways to improve procedures while promoting the benefits that would result from the necessary changes.

MARKETING AND EXTERNAL/INTERNAL COMMUNICATION
• With an ability to influence and motivate others, developed and launched a new concept to support the curriculum. To date, unprecedented in the dance world. Benefit: attract new dancers and build loyalty among existing ones.
• Provided strategic direction for Board of Directors and Founder/Artistic Director to improve communications and create unity among various divisions and locations.
• Developed strong marketing tactics to increase student enrollment. This ranged from identifying public performances, television appearances and educational outreach programs to approval on all collateral before it was sent to a prospective dancer/family.
• Worked closely with the Founder to develop all internal and external communication. This included; broadcast emails, website design, manuals, brochures, weekly newsletters, flyers, press kits, etc.
• Effective communicator: Polished telephone and writing skills. Energetic with good sense of humor.

EVENT/FUNDRASING STRATEGY AND EXECUTION
• Problem solver. Able to define strategy and creatively bring solutions to events and their objectives. Able to effectively negotiate delicate matters with sponsors and vendors.
• Managed all aspects of events and fundraisers which, at times, began with conception, logo design, marketing materials and event activity to, when necessary, day of event management. Event venues ranged from small theaters, to hotel ballrooms, to outdoor amphitheaters. When applicable, solicited donations, pursued sponsorships, etc.
• Analyzed each event and fundraiser to determine whether its main goal was to build loyalty, generate revenue or do both. Example: Effectively streamlined three separate events into this one showcased weekend to strengthen camaraderie and generate income. Negotiated the venue, oversaw the planning, execution and necessary collateral. Over 1,000 dancers were involved in two separate activities during the day, ending in the venue’s grand ballroom with dinner, a silent/live auction and entertainment.
• Lead weekly meetings to discuss all upcoming events and business issues. Maintained effective communication between all event managers/volunteers to ensure consistent service and smooth event activities.
• Consulted with staff/volunteers to reinforce the positives and to begin to improve upon the weaknesses at the conclusion of event/fundraiser.

MANAGEMENT AND GROWTH
• Managed office and teaching staff, fundraising, events, and all operations of a 1500 student dance Academy. Created an environment that was enthusiastic, collaborative and professional.
• Accountable for the financial stability of the organization: Managed outside agencies and vendors. Analyzed and developed operational systems. Managed all revenues and expenditures. Result: 20% reduction in budgetary expenses each year.
• Developed non profit’s operating annual budget. Managed all financial implications of the President/Founder’s strategic vision from strategic marketing plans to forecasting profit/loss statements.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
• Reported to a nine member board of directors. Interacted with complete business savvy on sensitive and highly confidential issues. Extremely trustworthy. Able to effectively negotiate delicate board matters.

COMMUNITY LEADER AND FUNDRAISER
• Member of a school board for two years. Chaired this private Lakeview’s grade school’s largest fundraiser for two consecutive years. Increased net income by 50%. Funds were used to renovate the school lunch room/kitchen.
• Negotiated to obtain sponsorship funds to purchase playground equipment.

LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATION
• Managed three departments: Advertising/Marketing/Promotion, Creative, and Shipping.
• Reported directly to president/owner. Majority of agency’s accounts included theatrical productions (Ex. Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, Aida, Show Boat, Forever Plaid, etc). Additional accounts included McDonalds, store/restaurant openings, and a dominant Chicago based property management account.
• Developed procedures to insure advertising/accounting departments were in tandem with all client expenditures.
• Involved in preparing all end of show closes requested by the presenter/box office.

MARKETING AND ADVERTISING
• Developed strategies that were in tandem with the public relation’s departments in order to maximize exposure.
• Assisted in development of subscriptions series, single tickets and group advertising and marketing campaigns.
• Developed media plans and negotiated radio, television, newspaper, magazine and out-of-home.
• Conducted grassroots marketing and advertising through churches, organizations, etc.

PROMOTIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS
• Identified and executed promotional tie-ins and sponsorships with clients/media. Media partners included: Chicago Tribune/Sun-Times and various radio and television stations.

BUILDING/MANAGING BROADCAST DEPARTMENT
• Created and managed a major retailer’s in-house broadcast department. Wrote job descriptions, interviewed and hired all department positions.
• Developed all broadcast media plans, directed/supervised all radio and television commercial negotiations, etc.
• Managed all radio and TV commercial production: Communicated objectives to the advertising agency, evaluated concepts and supervised commercials from conception through post production.
• Designed/implemented promotional programs in tandem with special events department and radio/television.

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE
• Managed all activity on the Carson Pirie Scott account. Assisted in development and execution of all marketing and advertising plans. Monitored all dollar expenditures to assure efficient use of client’s budget.

MEDIA BUYER/PLANNER
• Developed media plans and negotiated/purchased all broadcast time for Carson Pirie Scott, other department stores and retailers in the U.S. Worked directly/presented all media to clients.
