Position: Trade Compliance Manager for Owned Operations April 2002- Present • Manage the Import Customs Compliance Department and supervise the Import/Export Departments from Mexico/Honduras/Dominican Republic to be in compliance with all U.S. Customs Service requirements.
• Responsible for assisting in the development of budget, forecast, variance, efficiency , P & L analysis, end-month closing, Factory Operating Statements consolidation and verification. Bank Reconciliation. U.S. Customs Reconciliation’s, and other financial analysis related with the reduction of expenses for Vanity Fair Intimates Mexican & Honduras Operations.
• Maintains control of product costs and inventory valuation.
• Supervise Accounts Payables for air and ocean freight and brokerage charges.
• Continue assisting on the monthly financial closing and reporting of manufacturing and inventory data.
• Maintains controls over inventory movement and ensures the integrity of the perpetual inventory system.
• Make cost analysis for reduction of product development, freight, and duties. Make recovery of duties through request of binding rulings; prepare post-importation claims, protest, and drawbacks submissions. • Analyze and evaluates U.S. Custom’s programs and other international trade agreements for the reduction of duties in the importation of products.
• Research, analyze, assimilates, and evaluates all available information relating to any customs compliance issues such as marking, trademarks, classification, and customs documentation.
• Advise and provide regulatory training on issues including, but not limited to, Harmonized Tariff classification, country of origin determination, valuation, the North American Free Trade Agreement, Caribbean Basin Initiative Programs, and 9802 programs.
• Make recommendations to facilitate the development of Corporate Customs and Trade compliance programs.
• Leads projects to meet departmental initiatives such as ACH, ACE, AES, and C-TPAT.
• Analyze components, products and equipment and makes tariff classification, country of origin and valuation decisions.
• Maintains internal procedures for NAFTA qualification processes, and insures timely response to internal and external customers. • Audit import documents such as entry summaries, commercial invoices, certificates of origin and other documents supporting the U.S. imports.
• Addresses and responds to Customs or other government agency inquiries both prior to and post entry of the merchandise.
• Provides guidance to internal VF Intimates personnel with respect to import trade issues.
• Work with Customs Brokers, Attorneys, Customs to recognize, complete, and follow-up on all submissions. • Responsible for developing the U.S. Customs Reconciliation.
