Objective: PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Sybase ASE Administration (8 yrs) Microsoft SQL Server Admin (4 yrs) Sybase Replication Server Admin(2 yrs) Teradata Administration (2 yrs) DB2 UDB (V8) Administration (6 months) Project Management (4 yrs) C Programmer (6 yrs) Ingres Administration (3 yrs) Total Years in the MIS Field (16 yrs)
Experience: • Responsible for all facets of Database Administration for Sybase ASE, Sybase Replication, Microsoft SQL Server, and DB2 UDB. • Provide configuration/optimizations strategies of database servers, utilizing output statistics, and incorporating the use of such options as separate log caches, cache replacement policies, cache partitions, use of appropriate i/o pools, metadata settings, index strategies, and table partitioning. • Analyzed/Re-configured website database server, which was managed by IBM. Originally the system could not operate with ‘persistent’ sessions turned on, however, following my reconfiguration they were able to turn this functionality on, and the server CPU usage stayed below 60% during peak periods. By enabling this feature, our website contributed to over $6 million in sales for the two months of Dec.’03 and Jan.’04 alone. • Created the architecture of our ‘Warm’ Standby Sybase Replication environment while also utilizing Sybase’s Open Switch technology. This included the design and development of shell script programs to automate the maintenance administration, re-syncing of databases, and switching users from primary to standby when appropriate. • Developed documentation on how to re-establish replication in case of an unrecoverable failure making use of my shell scripts. • Created shell scripts to automate and perform database maintenance, diagnostics, and monitoring of database servers, replication health and associated processes on all related platforms, and notification of a failed component(s). • Provided mentoring to co-workers on database technical aspects as well as business knowledge concerning database support on all of our Sybase platforms. Our environment consists of 9 distribution centers, over 950 stores, and 84 General Office platforms. • Designed/Created a generic Version Control Verification Process to monitor and report any file changes related to all of our database software programs and user file systems. This shell script application is operational on over 1000 AIX platforms. • Wrote various SQL scripts to provide quick resolution of tedious database activities utilizing information from database system tables.
