• Iraq tour OpTelic 5, received a mention in dispatches for courage, professionalism and calmness under high levels of stress. Assisted and advised in the planning, preparation, training and deployment for operations in Iraq including medical and psychological preparations.
• Organised and advised in the planning and preparation for deployments of personnel for operations in Canada, Northern Germany and United Kingdom for training in Hostile environments exercises including prerequisite medical and mental preparation.
• Planned and advised on the implementation of effective security measure, security of Airfields, Military establishments, buildings and compounds. Supervised and instructed in the training and development of personnel for a multitude of high intensity operations including 4 and 6 man contact drills both on foot and mobile, escape and evasion drills, conflict and disaster management, security of individuals and structures, weapons and tactics, psychological preparation, first aid, marksmanship, discipline and general operation and conduct of personnel.
• Commander of a 32 man unit and sometimes up to 120 personnel on operations, which included patrolling, psychological operations, covert surveillance including marksman deployments. Assisted in the Iraq Police and National Guard mentoring. Provided Close Protection support operations. Organise and controlling intelligence, collating, implementation and supervising the distribution of such information. Supervising and controlling Prisoners of War in the Iraq conflict.
• Qualified as a Platoon Sergeant (middle manager), with responsibilities including instructing and training personnel, both in peacetime and war operations, weapons and tactics. Took over the helm of the Reconnaissance Platoon in charge of 32 men, supervised and conducted training in the arts of surveillance, war fighting skills, weapons and tactics, psychological operations, intelligence gathering. Carried out covert surveillance operations in somewhat difficult situations.
• Deployed to Macedonia as part of the Organisation for Support and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) force. Moved to Germany as part of the 4th Armoured Brigade in 2000. Critical in the department’s conversion to the armoured role teaching both armoured and dismounted tactics and weapons skills.
