Objective: I have worked with children for over 25 years and first realized that I did not pursue the career meant for me when I was 40. I am now 45 and in a month my youngest child will graduate from HS. I will be in a new phase of my life and want to try and make the rest of my life as rewarding as possible.
Experience: I have never been a "formal" teacher in a school but I have many years of experience with volunteering and church. I was a Girl Scout leader for 16 years. At one point during those years, I was the manager for over 200 girls and their families. It was very rewarding for me to plan activities for my girls and guide them into new areas of life. We earned many badges, went on dozens of field trips from cruises on the lake to a tea party in Springfield, and made everlasting friendships that remain to this day. I have also been a sunday school teacher for 14 years. I love being creative and planning the weekly lessons and watching the children's eyes get big when I put great emotion into the stories. I also have a fantastic time at Bible School in the summer. I go overboard on decorating to whatever theme is chosen by drawing and painting my own scenery.
Education: I have a paralegal degree from what was then known as Phillip's College in Springfield, MO. I graduated after 2 years with honors. Since that time I have taken other classes such as accounting, banking, church teaching, safety, etc.
Affiliations: As I mentioned earlier, I was involved in Girl Scouts for 16 years. I earned awards and held several offices. I held the office of city council member for 4 years, chamber of commerce for 3 years, volunteer at the museum, member of the missions team at 1st Bap. Church in Pierce City, Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of SS, Director of Women's Mission Union at 1st Baptist, Welcome Center Director at 1st Baptist.
Skills: My great desire is to be able to show my creative side. My only outlet is in VBS or teaching Sunday school. Kids listen to me because I care enough to make things interesting and fun for them. In the process, I have fun too! I am able to discipline without crushing a child's spirit and I have great compassion so that I try to never make anyone feel dumb. Kids want to be in my class.
Additional Information: I am devoted to whatever I set forth to do in life. I raised 2 daughters on my own and would never have had it any other way. I believe in being in class whenever I'm scheduled to be there and being on time is also critical. I'm creative and friendly and strive for things to be better. I believe in sharing what I learn and love to learn from others as well. I'm a dedicated person
