Experience: I have worked primarily in the insurance industry since 1987. Since 1989, I have various positions within medical insurance including claims processing, quality review, contracts and customer service. I have a great desire to shift the focus of my career away from insurance claims and toward medical information technology. It is my goal to combine my extensive corporate insurance experience with a desire to understand, implement and manage business technology.
During my career in medical insurance, I have gained extensive experience with medical coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS, RBRVS) and an understanding of the extent customers’ financial performance is effected by thorough review of medical data. Most recently, I was involved with quality review of correspondence, reports and spreadsheets which evaluated medical costs, diagnoses and procedures in regards to contractual limitations and exclusions.
Recently I have received my A+ Certification in order to gain additional understanding of computers and information technology. Studying this material has increased my resolve to gain a broader knowledge base. In the near future I will be seeking additional certifications in database management.
