Objective:
Seeking a position as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal where my
extensive experience with the Knox County District Attorney Office
will be used to support attorneys, strengthen client relationships,
prepare documentation, conduct research, and assist in case
preparation or the completion of legal assignments.


Experience:
KNOX COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY OFFICE, Knoxville, TN, 1998 - March 2007
Legal Secretary (2006-03/07).

Worked in the Felony Sessions Court responsible for file
preparation, docket management, and additional legal administrative
support.

* Prepared cases for Grand Jury, including gathering reports,
files, and additional information from other law enforcement agencies
as well as victims and witnesses.

* Worked in an extremely fast paced, high volume area handling up
to 350 warrants per day.


Paralegal (2002-2006).

Assigned to the Project Safe Neighborhoods program handling firearm
possession cases by convicted felons as well as prescription drug
fraud cases.

* Reviewed daily arrest reports; checked criminal histories for
felony convictions; started new files on each relevant case; and
presented cases at monthly case review meetings to a panel of legal
agencies to decide on prosecution.

* Reviewed investigative files for prescription drug fraud cases
and prepared indictments for Grand Jury.

* Interviewed police officers to gather facts on cases and worked
with TennCare investigators as needed.

* Drafted and prepared indictments, presentments, and informations
for the Grand Jury.

* Developed and maintained spreadsheets (Excel) to track each case.


Case Coordinator, Felony Drug Unit (1999-2002).

Provided legal support for Felony Drug cases, including setting up
case files; interviewing arresting officers; documenting facts;
preparing trial dockets, motions, and discovery packets; and checking
criminal records for prior convictions.

* Worked closely with the Organized Crime Unit and Knox County Drug
Unit.

* Drafted the indictments, presentments, and informations for the
Grand Jury.

* Worked in Sessions Court, Criminal Court, and Grand Jury.


Victim Witness Coordinator (1998-1999).

Worked in Sessions Court interviewing victims/witnesses for each
case, gathering/analyzing facts, and obtaining estimates and medical
records on personal injury or property damage.

* Instructed victims on the process and supported them during the
entire case to keep them informed of trial dates.
