Objective:
Senior Manufacturing Manager, providing project leadership in the areas of Quality, Lean, Cost Improvement and Team Innovation.


Experience:
Performance Fibers, Scottsboro, AL 2002 – 2006
($600Mln multinational business, with plants in the US, France, Germany and China and a Joint Venture in South Korea. Divested from Honeywell Group in December 2004, formerly DIOLEN Industrial Fibers, Inc.)

Production/Technology Leader (2005 – 2006)
Managed the entire Manufacturing Process and Technology group, including Solid State Polymerization, Spinning, Drawing and Fabric Treating (150 employees under my direct responsibility). Coordinated Product and Process Development, managing four Engineers and one Technician.

• Strong Safety & Housekeeping drive, reducing OSHA recordables from 21 on previous year to 3 in 2006 YTD.
• SAP Power User and Coordinator of Implementation Project for Alabama.
• Sponsor of several Projects, including:
o Six Sigma Project on Cable Cording performance, that raised productivity from 3400lbs/mach.day to 4100lbs/mach.day, with a financial impact of $275 thousand.
o Profit Improvement Project in the Treating Unit with savings of $300 thousand in raw materials, reduced re-works by more than 50% and reduced waste by 33%.
• Lean Sigma Facilitator and Project Leader, with several successful Kaizen events executed, with combined savings in the order of $500 thousand, as well as inventory reductions of up to 30% due to production smoothing.

Process Engineering Manager / Technology Manager (2002 – 2005)
• Reduced dependency on R&D in Europe, reducing budget from $2.1 million to $250 thousand, through local resources and cooperation with customers & Suppliers.
• Re-built Process group, which had excessive turn-over. Created a strong team, through careful recruiting, training and tutoring.
• Created Job Descriptions and Performance Evaluation for Department.
• Coordinated transition in main raw material supplier (PET chips) representing annual savings to the business in the order of $5.8 million.
• Contributed to successful turn-around effort that took business from losing $20 million + to being profitable.

COBAFI Cia Bahiana de Fibras, Camacari, BA, Brazil 1991 – 2002
(Member of the Akzo Nobel group until 1999, divested to the Acordis group. At the time an expanding business at $2.5 Billion.)

IT Manager (2000 – 2002)
• Restructured IT Department of the company, going from outsourced to internal team.
• Rebuilt Network Infrastructure, going from coax cables to Gigabit, all new routers and servers.
• Coordinated implementation of Integrated ERP system (LOGIX) throughout the company, including remote sales office in São Paulo.
• Developed Local intranet.
• Replaced Phone Central with integrated system with VoIP and cell phone integration.

Process Engineer / Process Coordinator (1992 – 2000)
• Responsible for each of the processes in the plant, including PA6 polymerization, Solid State Polymerization of PA6 and PET, Spinning of PA6 and PET yarn (technical and industrial applications, as well as tire cord, including two step processes), twisting & weaving.
• Participated in successful turn-around effort, that took the plant from being on the brink of bankruptcy to being the most profitable plant in the fiber division of the Group.
• Member of the development team for the HSSDW-8 process, only process until this date capable of spinning high denier yarns at speeds up to 8,000m/min.
• Responsible for assembling and training the entire operations team for the first HSSDW-8.
• Process Coordinator for the HSSDW-8 line in Brazil, supplying customers such as Pirelli, Goodyear and Firestone.

Trainee in Quality Department / Quality Assistant (1991 – 1992)
• Member of the ISO 9000 implementation team. Adapted system based on British Standards.
