Objective:
Help individuals who have never experienced therapeutic massage to feel comfortable with the experience.
Determine specific massage modality to be used by conferring with client to assess medical history and any problems with stress and/or pain. Maintain thorough records and maintain client privacy.
Use knowledge of human anatomy and psychology to create a massage experience that addresses client’s mood, anxiety levels, and physical condition.
Select and prepare essential oils, lighting, and music to deliver individualized massage experiences and to develop immediate and a long-range treatment plans.
During the massage experience, assess the client’s soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength and range of motion. Use this information to develop long-range massage treatment plans that may include the client working with primary doctors or other medical professionals.
Provide clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement, stretching, strengthening, relaxation and rehabilitative exercises as appropriate.
