EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS (600-328)

Rockdale County Emergency Services Department is accepting applications for the position of
Firefighter I.

To be considered, the applicant must:

1. Be 18 years of age or older,
2. Have a high school diploma or GED
3. Have not been convicted of a felony in the past 10 years,
4. Have not incurred traffic violations that would prevent issuance of a commercial vehicle operator's license under current Georgia law.
5. Be in top physical condition.

Applicants with Fire and/or EMS experience and certification may be given additional consideration. A Fast Track entry program will be available for applicants currently certified as both NPQ Firefighter 1 and EMT-Intermediate.

APPLICATIONS WHICH ARE INCOMPLETE OR DO NOT MEET THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE REMOVED FROM CONSIDERATION.

Applicants must meet the physical requirements set forth by the Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Council, as well as a written examination. Applicants are subject to a criminal and motor vehicle record check. Candidates who are made a conditional job offer must pass a physical examination and a drug screen. Candidates must have the ability to complete the required training and gain certification within twelve months of appointment. This job has a 270 day working test period.

The starting hourly rate is equivalent to $29,088 per year. Position will remain open until filled. Rockdale County offers an excellent benefits package in a smoke and drug-free workplace.
