Job Description:
Works under the supervision of the Rapid Response Laboratory Leadership. Performs and interprets designated test procedures in the Rapid Response Laboratory. Performs a variety of laboratory duties following established procedures, protocols and guidelines of the department and/or organization. " Perform all designated RRL procedures competently, including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Specimen Processing, Blood Bank, and Microbiology when designated. " Set up and perform a variety of technical and complex tests following established procedures. " Recognize and solve problems or determine alternative solutions for analysis if needed and report all deviations from established procedures to the Manager or appropriate Supervisor. " Interpret, correlate and report test results. Verify computer-generated reports. Investigate erroneous test values and inform RRL Supervisor of all irregularities, errors or instrument failures and measures taken to solve. " Perform and document quality control and quality assurance. Document all quality control failures and corrective action taken. " Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and make minor repairs to instrumentation. Notify Manager or Supervisor of any major instrument problems, efforts to correct and if any major repairs are needed. " Maintain accurate logs, records, files and all other required documentation. " Participate in updating and reviewing of procedures. " Keep assigned work areas clean and orderly and help to maintain supply inventory; use personal protective equipment appropriately and maintain a safe environment for patients and employees. " Train and orient new employees as requested. Complete training documentation as required. " Maintain a culture of service excellence. " Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our resources. " Perform other related job duties such as obtaining blood specimens from patients, bedside testing, clerical tasks, sending specimens to reference laboratories, conducting verification tests on new products and instrument/procedure comparison, statistical analysis, and special projects.


Job Requirements:

" Three years or more of academic studies at an accredited college. Completion of 12 consecutive months of internship in an accredited school of medical technology leading to a Bachelor's degree or work experience in a laboratory which qualifies for examination of a national registry Or " MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification " Ability to use initiative and good judgement " Ability to read and interpret data " Ability to work under stress with close attention to details " Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, public, co-workers and medical staff " In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include such other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon Exempla needs or requirements " National Medical Technologist registration by ASCP or equivalent within 6 months of eligibility.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least one year of experience as a generalist technologist is preferred. It is important to be able to cover more than one area of the laboratory, particularly when working evening and night shifts
