Job Description: One Economy’s Digital Connectors program is a national youth development initiative that combines leadership development, digital education and community service to prepare youth, ages 14 to 21 years old, to build the technical proficiency of their respective communities, and serve as a bridge to digital opportunities. The primary responsibility of the instructor is the safety and well being of all students. Instructors are responsible for providing quality academic instruction to students. In addition, it is the responsibility of every Instructor to ensure that each student in his/her class has an enjoyable, productive, challenging, and meaningful experience in that class. This position involves conducting youth educational assessment, testing, and instruction; completion of related documentation and reports; maintaining on-going student contact; maintaining public relations activities; maintaining student retention activities; and participation in staff and professional development activities.
Job Requirements: • Follow the course curriculum as designed. Youth Instructors are responsible for developing the daily lesson plans for their respective classes. It is expected that Instructors will make full and constructive use of the time scheduled for classes, and show creativity and excitement with their classes to the best of their ability. • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that is successful in getting along with students, staff, parents, and the public in general • Work closely with the Program Coordinator to understand the process of program planning • Develop a weekly lesson plan that involves hands-on/minds-on learning • Instruct session in a student-centered environment while ensuring participant safety and well-being • Submit all paperwork in a timely fashion (payroll forms, itinerary, budget, and incident/injury reports) • Read, review, and follow guidelines outlined in the Instructor Manual • Participate in instructor meetings and training sessions
• Bachelor’s degree with mandatory 2 years of youth development experience; • Must have experience in Journalism/Creative Writing and Website/Graphic Design. • Ability to work in a fast paced environment; • Enjoy working with students who are excited and interested in learning. • Effective project management skills: demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, prioritize work, maintain deadlines and ensure quality of work; • Must have reliable transportation. • A sincere passion and drive for helping improve the lives of inner-city youth through technology.
