CHEMICAL PROCESS Engineering Manager needed in Bergen County, NJ. Experience 10-15 years MAX.

Ideal Fit: My client wants a person whose career has had a steady progression in responsiblity with COMSUMER PRODUCTS or CHEMICAL companies...NO exceptions. The ideal candidate will have started their career as a PLANT PROCESS engineer, doing modifications on equipment and processes to improve yields, efficiencies, etc., NOT capital projects. In time, taking on additional duties to BECOME a PROJECT ENGINEER engineer. Now having the responsibility of taking a CAPITAL PROJECT from CRADLE to GRACE by developing the project, thinking it through, costing, getting financial approval, and then supervising it from inception until it was turned over to manufacturing.

Job Description: SENIOR CHEMICAL PROCESS Engineering MANAGER will be a key leader who manages capital projects for the Region through all phases of the project including scoping, cost estimating, safety reviews, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and hand-over to facility management.
Specific Duties: Will serve as the manager of capital projects by developing scopes for large, strategic, capital, and supply chain strategy projects to support the business needs. Has single point of accountability for leading large, general, and capital projects through all CVP stages of a project.
These are major projects within a OU/FU that: (1) have a considerable impact on business performance, (2) materially impact the Supply Chain, (3) have very demanding schedules or (4) are highly complex, requiring well developed expertise in project leadership and project management. Applies engineering principles to the design of processing facilities and leads the project team to develop the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and the project timeline. Manages the human relations part of project teams including understanding the phases of development that new teams go through and utilizing different leadership styles for each of the phases. Be able to recognize and appropriately deploy the current skill levels of each of the project team members in the areas of: (1) the functional department they represent and (2) project management principles, tools and processes. Uses various styles of leadership and coaching for each of these individuals to help develop them to perform the activities required on the project team. Meets with the plant project leaders to coach / mentor them on project execution. Also coaches and mentors to site engineering authorities within the envelope on how to implement and sustain IMS at the facility level. Participatea in GSC Regional Engineering Network. Conducts/participates in peer assists within the envelope. Provides process safety guidance to the network. Manages engineering / construction projects, leads and manages contract and outside engineering resources. Identifies engineering opportunities to improve operational & safety performance.


Job Requirements:
Requirements:
BS in CHEMICAL Engineering (preferred) and 11+ years of experience in a combination of project, operations and process engineering. 3+ years of experience in plant operations, 5+ years of project management experience & 5+ years of process engineering experience a MUST.
FORMAL TRAINING in PROJECT MANAGEMENT required, (PMP a plus).

Base Salary 100K-125K, Bonus eligible, & possible Relocation Assistance (Depends on Candidate)
