The Specialty Claim Assistant position is an integral role within the Specialty Claims Department that will provide claim support to the Specialty Claim staff. The Specialty Claim Assistant pursues final signed releases & dismissals of litigation, confirms that all expenses have been paid and all financials are closed when the examiner brings the file to conclusion, or confirms that no further adjusting functions are needed.
In addition, the Specialty Claim Assistant manages files the examiner determines will be inactive for approximately 90 days. When requested documentation or claim status is received via mail, email, or phone, the file notes will be documented, monitoring may continue, the file may be closed and/or reassigned to the examiner, or the examiner may be consulted if necessary.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Completing assignment process to assign claim to examiner utilizing standard guidelines. • Obtaining signed releases, order of dismissal from court or defense counsel. • Obtaining final billing from defense counsel. • Completing file close and monitor process. • Setting up diary system in Claim Vision and CIS to monitor activity on files.
Job Requirements: Skills/Knowledge/Competencies:
• Requires minimum one year of claim experience or industry related experience. • General understanding of the various policies in Specialty lines of business. • Ability to interpret and understand "next action steps" as it pertains to the claim. • Ability to learn and develop a working knowledge of legal procedures, proceeding, appellate processes, and EEOC procedures. • Ability to understand settlement and release documents, attorney invoices and LCMG reviews. • Excellent organization, multi-tasking and prioritization skills. • Demonstrates full proficiency in written and oral communication.
