Plant Z1, a solid wood flooring facility in Franklin, NC is seeking a highly motivated Production Manager to lead a multi-shift manufacturing operation. The Production Manager will be responsible for leading process efforts related to safety, quality, productivity, and profitability through innovation and implementation of process improvement tools and systems. This role is instrumental in converting divisional and plant objectives into achievable tasks at the execution level. The Production Manager will lead and develop a salary group of 16as well as ensure the development of all employees (approx. 230) at the flooring facility.

Essential Duties Include:

Must have the ability to ‘oversee’ the operations of a solid hardwood flooring facility; which includes: lumber yard, dry kilns, and milling plant to ensure the management team performs their work in a logical, orderly and skilled manner.
Establish and support adequate lines of communication between departmental managers and supervisory personnel.
Job duties are to be carried out in such a manner that all employees will know that the Production Manager is committed to achieving the goals of Shaw Industries.
Conducts meetings with the department managers and actively works to ensure safety, efficiency, quality, waste, labor productivity and unscheduled downtime goals are met.
Along with the planning department, plans production schedules to prepare operational schedules to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
Provide good housekeeping and procedures that will insure a clean and orderly facility.
This organized professional coaches’ department managers and shift supervisors to higher levels of performance and develops and/or revises standard operating and working practices.
Operates and directs the facility within budgetary limits.
Duties also includes daily coordination with purchasing, maintenance, quality control, and other staff members as necessary to ensure production, quality and personnel goals are on track.
Must be knowledgeable of federal, state and local requirements, of OSHA and Worker's Compensation.
Must be able to communicate with sales force and customers as required.
Must have a minimum of seven years progressive operational leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

Job Requirements:

4 year degree in Engineering or Business and Six Sigma/Lean experience preferred
Solid hardwood flooring experience preferred
Knowledge of process and equipment
Excellent written and communication skills at all levels.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel/Word
Ability to read and write English effectively
Must be familiar with current computer systems and software
Must demonstrate leadership qualities, including interpersonal skills.
