Job Description:

Responsible and accountable for the Safety, Quality and Productivity of Plant 65.  Responsible for re-engineering and redesign efforts including the development of capital/expense projects to support technical innovation.  Responsible for process improvement, process innovation and product development.  Responsible for supporting  company/plant systems and programs.


 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:


Communicates technical data/concepts to productions areas. Develops concepts, design, and economics into viable capital projects. Proposes process options and determines optimal application. Troubleshoots/consults for process/equipment problems. Monitors, analyzes, and optimizes process performance. Implements, directs, and coordinates process improvement through the use of analytical problem solving, process understanding and product development as specified in the Andalusia Quality System. Implements, directs, and coordinates Design of Experiments. Implements, directs, and coordinates Sample Yarn Requests (SYR’s) as described in the Systems Procedures Manual. Performs audits of the Quality Systems, Process Specification System, and other audits if requested. Responsible for the health and safety of all employees. Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Technical Manager. Member of the Plant Leadership team. Must be willing to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry and reach as required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds as required during an eight (8) or twelve (12) hour shift as required. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs as required. Must be available for call-in duty as needed. Must be willing to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. Performs any other job duty assigned by supervision. Must attend a one (1) day orientation training session familiarizing new employee with Plant and basic procedures. Attends annual Quality/Safety training. Participates in an on-the-job training session familiarizing the new employee with their job duties. Responsible for safety equipment issued including safety glasses and earplugs. Responsible for materials necessary to perform assigned tasks including standard office supplies and appropriate software. Maintains a safe and clean work area at all times. Reports any unsafe conditions to supervision. Reports all accidents no matter how slight to supervision immediately. Must wear personal protective equipment as required while on the job. Complies with all plant and department safety rules and regulations. Complies with procedures found in Shaw Management System (SMS).




Job Requirements:

Satisfactory work record including attendance. Good supervisory, organizational and people skills necessary to manage multifaceted jobs. Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with people. Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills and ability to work with minimum supervision. Demonstrate good motivational and initiative skills. Ability to make decisions based on inputs provided by supervisors, subordinates, and peers to be consistent with departmental and company goals. Must be able to pass preemployment and substance abuse screening. Basic knowledge of computer skills. Need diversified background with strong technical, business, and managerial skills. Demonstrate good motivational and initiative skills. Ability to make decisions based on inputs provided by supervisors, subordinates, and peers to be consistent with departmental and company goals. Willingness to work rotating shifts and weekends as required. Must wear personal protective equipment and work in a production environment. Must possess good interpersonal communication and organizational skills.


REQUIREMENTS:


Four (4) year B.S. degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience of  High School Diploma/GED and 5 years fiber process engineering experience.  Preferred diversified background with strong technical, business, and managerial skills.


Senior Technical Engineers are required to become a Six Sigma Blackbelt and must attend Six Sigma Blackbelt training  and required prerequisites.
