Job Description:
Big-company reach, small-company attitude! AAI Corporation, an operating unit of Textron Systems, is currently recruiting for a Strategic Sourcing Manager. Duties included in this position include:
• Lead efforts to develop and implement AAI’s Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Development Organization
• Recruit and develop a team of Advanced Subcontracts managers and Supplier Development Engineers (7-10 members)
• Align with the AAI Engineering and Program Management organizations to manage supplier development activities in the early stages of product and/or program development
• Work with various AAI functional organizations to ensure that Procurement operating guidelines and all components of the department are optimized to deliver superior value to our internal and external customers
• Act as central contact for all Procurement and Subcontracts early development and IRAD activities and ensure that this work is completed in a timely and accurate manner
• Owner and Champion of cross-functional commodity teams (team members from Strategic Sourcing, General Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Programs, etc)
• Active member in the proposal process
• Primary lead for supplier capability development and for supplier process improvement initiatives
• Work with relevant Procurement and Subcontracting personnel to identify and implement technology based solutions for the solicitation, storage and maintenance of supplier documents (e.g. flow-downs, pricing data, subcontracting plans, etc)
• Collaborate with Purchasing Manager to develop risk mitigation plans for “improve" and “get out" suppliers
• Collaboratively design and implement a commodity-based Procurement structure with the appropriate AAI functional areas
• Actively participate in the Supplier Rationalization Process for Procurement and Subcontracts
• Coordinate and actively manage metrics and corporate reporting requirements for the Strategic Sourcing Group
• Provide leadership, management, and oversight for an organization of 7-10 people
• Oversees departmental cost savings methodologies to ensure adherence to program and company goals
• Continually monitors and evaluates supplier performance to ensure compliance and implement appropriate action as required
• Identify, monitor, and maintain visibility of program specific requirements i.e. Key Process Indicators related to development and IRAD activities
• The ability to work independently with minimal oversight and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction while managing multiple high-level priorities is essential


Job Requirements:
Required Skills:
• Familiarity and prior experience with various government contract types (cost-plus, firm-fixed etc)
• Knowledge of basic business principles such as purchasing, materials logistics, business and contracts law, finance and accounting
• Must have detailed knowledge and application of price/cost analysis and cost principles and effective negotiation skills
• Strong technical background in the manufacture of complex electro-mechanical assemblies and systems
• Knowledge/experience with industrial hardware/electronics parts number acquisition and ability to analyze accordingly
• Preferable knowledge and expertise with FAR regulations
• Effectively and efficiently manage change to make timely improvement decisions
• Able to effectively handle multiple tasks and changing levels of responsibilities
• Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills to be able to provide timely feedback and communicate appropriately with other departments
• Energetic and self-motivated team player/builder
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft (Excel Access Word and Outlook)
• Strong knowledge of Oracle 11i MRP/ERP system preferred
• Must demonstrate good problem solving and analytical techniques along with understanding necessary internal controls
• Must have prior experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma initiatives in a complex supply base or manufacturing environment

Required Experience:
• Bachelors degree (preferably in a technical discipline) required; MBA or other graduate-level degree is a plus.
• Six Sigma Black or Green Belt Certification preferred.
• Position typically requires 10+ years of related work experience in an engineering and/or supply chain management role and at least five years in supervising professionals.
• Ability to plan coordinate and oversee the activities of departmental personnel.
• Considerable knowledge of manufacturing improvement initiatives, transition from development-to-production methodologies, and interpretation of engineering requirements in both Production and R&D environments.
• Working knowledge of sources of supplies, price trends and grades or quality of materials and equipment and laws and ordinances governing the purchase of goods and services.
• Ability to streamline internal (AAI) and external (supplier) processes to accomplish Program goals and objectives and analyze and process highly complex product and service requirements.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees (subordinates, colleagues and management), other departments, and suppliers.
• Must be able to identify and communicate accurate information concerning process, policies and procedures to subordinates.
• Handle all requirements with professionalism, organization, and timeliness while responding to multiple requests from geographically dispersed customers and colleagues.
• Must be able to accommodate occasional regional and/or international travel requirements.
