Job Description:
Position: Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) Supervisor

Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta

Shift: 21 days on and 7 days off with accommodations and flights provided

Overview:

Provides supervision and support to the operational team of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance for a specific ESS work site. Reports directly to the HSQE Manager, ESS Canada.

Duties:

• Sets an example for Associates to follow by incorporating safe work practices in all aspects of their activities and following all ESS and client safety policies and procedures;
• Conducts incident analysis to identify incident trends;
• Ensures that investigations are conducted and conducting site inspections;
• Acts as a liaison between management and outside agencies;
• Assures training programs are established and tracked for employees and supervisors;
• Develops technical guidance and programs to identify worksite hazards;
• Ensures corporate compliance with legal and other requirements.
• Monitors health and safety, environment and quality assurance policies, procedures, protocols and legal requirements and assists site management in implementation
• Supports operational "start-up" training/support needs for new units, ongoing training from Food Safety, H&S orientation of new hires in conjunction with HR
• Liaison with client’s Health and Safety dept, governmental agencies (i.e Public Health, OHS).
• Ensures due diligence records are maintained incl. audits are conducted
• Monitors and address all Program shortcomings
• Performs all risk management requirements including workers compensation procedures are followed
• Prepares reports including key performance indicators to management and to the client as needed
• Represents management on client’s Joint Health and Safety Committee as directed by the General Manager
• Monitors corrective actions determined from audits, inspections, etc.
• Coordinates safety meetings, assists Joint Health & Safety Committee with the committee’s functions
• Central point of contact for units in regards HSEQ concerns
• Perform other duties as required


Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications (please only apply if you meet all required qualifications):

Experience:

• Education and/or experience:
o four-year college or university; or five or more years direct experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the following fields:
o Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health,
o Public Health, Food Science: Understanding of Food Safety/Quality Assurance legislation and practices
o CRSP designation is an asset
• Proven training experience (e.g. Advanced.FST an asset or obtain within 30 days of employment),
• 3 years experience in similar field (food services/facility management)
• Fluent in English and French (oral and in writing)
• Ability to read, analyze and report information effectively to top management, work with minimal supervision
• Reasoning ability: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Administrative skills: proven ability to work with office automation including Word, Excel, Power Point, email and internet use
• Traveling required as needed by ESS
