Job Description:
Headway Corporate Solutions is seeking a Director of Employee Health and Safety for a client in St. Petersburg, FL. The Director of EHS will have the following responsibilities:
Anticipate, Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
Implement, administer and advise others on hazard control programs.
Supervise safety activities including work assignments, personnel administration, staffing, training, etc.
Assist corporate program by developing and implementing employee and craft safety orientation training program.
Develop hazard control designs, methods, procedures and programs.
Review & file all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities reports.
Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and recommend appropriate corrective action as required.
Accompany safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk through tours in the event of a major accident or investigation.
Prepare written appeals for safety violation citations.
Additional assignments per Presidents direction.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; talk or hear. The director must also be able to travel at a moments notice.
Job Requirements:
Four year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent.
At least 5 years of construction and/or industrial safety management experience.
A thorough understanding of federal, state, local, and company regulations.
The ability to anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
