Job Description:
The main purpose of this position is to receive, accession, process and prepare specimens/samples for testing; enter data in the computer system; and expedite results for over 10,000 specimens/samples daily within the Laboratories Administration in its continuing mission of preserving the health and well being of Maryland citizens. This position requires scheduled weekend, evening and holiday work based on a rotating schedule.


Job Requirements:
Education: Associate of Arts degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college or university.
or
Education and training which includes: 60 credits from an accredited institution including 24 credits in medical laboratory technology; or 24 credits of science courses including 6 credits in chemistry, 6 credits in biology, and 12 additional credits in any combination of chemistry, biology or medical technology, and laboratory training to include either the completion of an approved clinical laboratory training program or at least three months of laboratory training performing high complexity testing. Please note coursework on MS-100.

Experience: Two years of experience performing public health, medical, or environmental laboratory testing.

Note: A bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree in chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology may be substituted for the above specific education or training.
