Planner Job Description:

*Participates in the development and maintenance of comprehensive public health plans, which serve as a guide for policy makers by: preparing various plans based on essential public health services incorporating City of Waco and public health board goals; developing and preparing recommended revisions to programming based on community assessments and statistical indicators; soliciting input and providing information and assistance to public on process.

*Participates as project leader in planning and managing internal and external participation in multiple projects necessary to accomplish public health programming and initiatives by: preparing needs analysis documents; preparing cost estimates; facilitating internal and external workgroups; writing grant applications; managing contractual agreements; monitoring outcomes.

*Maintains a data base for public health response plans and other demographic information by: soliciting participation and keeping current contact information and various duties for all community partners under plans; utilizing demographics for planning of programs and grant applications.

*Utilizes the City's and Health District's Geographic Information System by: storing and retrieving data; facilitating analytical studies; and producing graphics to assist in planning.

*Plans and directs media relations by: acting as media liaison for special events; preparing public service announcements and promotional materials.

*Preserves and enhances the quality of life for the citizens of McLennan County and Waco, Texas by observing the City's guiding principles.

*Performs other duties as assigned.

Planner Job Requirements:

*A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Public Administration, Business, Planning, or a related field is required.
*Five years experience in public administration, planning, business or related field required.
*Valid Texas Driver's License.
