Part-time Commercial Driver’s License Instructor

As a CLD Instructor, we will rely on you to will ensure proper instructional methods, subject matter and evaluations are used in accordance with established school policy during the instruction of students in the CDL truck driver training program. You will have the opportunity effectively communicate with a diverse student body in a classroom setting while performing the following duties:

• Preparing timely, legible and accurate reports of training provided to each student and submitted to the appropriate Supervisor
• Ensuring the efficient and safe use of equipment to meet required educational goals
• Adhering to standardized methods of training and evaluation guidelines
• Ensuring compliance with training rules: Must meet and comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations Section 391.51 (a)
• Reporting to Supervisor vehicle maintenance/repair items needing attention using prescribed from
• Informing Supervisor of conduct or training progress affecting a student’s ability to complete the program on time or affecting other student’s progress

The work hours for this position are 3pm – 9 pm Monday – Friday and 8am – 4pm on Saturday. However, 1 to 2 times per month, you may be required to work an 8 hour day (6:30 am – 3pm).

Candidates must be flexible to this work schedule to be considered.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 8-10 years experience with driver training (OTR or Local or a combination)
• Accident free MVR within the last 3 years; No DUI’s ever
• Knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations Section 391.51 (a)
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays
• Ability to meet the physical qualifications for obtaining a CDL license and to operate a tractor-trailer in intrastate commerce
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, stooping, pulling, bending, and pushing
• Ability to pass a controlled substance and alcohol testing under Part 382 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

Preferred skills:
• Ability to obtain licensure as a CDL Examiner preferred
• 1 year experience as a truck driving instructor preferred
