Job Description:
Maintenance Electrician - Wood panels - Southeast USA

Job Purpose
· Maintain and install electrical systems at the plant on days or shifts.

Working Relationships
· This position reports to the electrical supervisor.
Job Task
· Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
· Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
· Develops work request as required.
· Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
· Electrical equipment selection for installation and replacement.
· Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
· Fabricates replacement parts.
· Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
· Install and maintain electrical systems to provide power and controls to machines, equipment, lighting, and facilities. This includes lying out and wiring control panels, installing rigid conduit power distribution centers, and controls to conform to specifications and schematic drawings.
· Must be able to work rotating shifts in a team environment.
· Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
· Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
· Receives work orders and enters details into CMMS upon completing job task.
· Removes and installs electrical equipment.
· Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment.
· Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.

Technical Skills, Training & Experience
· 5 years in industrial electrical maintenance.
· A strong mechanical aptitude with hydraulics and pneumatics experience essential.
· Ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
· Ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.
· Ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
· Ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
· Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
· All work is performed from written, verbal, or drawing specifications with strict compliance to all appropriate safety and code requirements.
· Analog and digital instrumentation installation, troubleshooting and tuning.
· Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
· Basic OSHA and NEC code requirements understanding.
· CMMS and work order system understanding.
· Computer and typing skills - 20WPM minimum typing skills.
· Control graphics programming and troubleshooting.
· HAZCOM procedures understanding.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
· Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical structures and processes.
· Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
· Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
· Must have served an apprenticeship or has had four (4) years experience at the electricians' trade and who, by their skill and experience, is qualified and capable and competent to perform the various duties described here.
· Perform emergency electrical repairs to assure the least loss of productive time during the repair period.
· Planning and scheduling basics for job completion.
· PLC installation, programming, and troubleshooting.
· Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, ladder logic, engineering, drawings, and sketches.
· Service and troubleshoot 3-phase ac motors and controls.
· Service and troubleshoot power systems up to 15kV.
· Test-run repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.
· Understand product quality standards.
· Understanding of the plants machine operations and maintenance requirements.
· VFD and DC drive installation, programming, and troubleshooting.
