REPORTS TO: President



POSITION OVERVIEW:



Provide leadership in the development of, strategic and business plans. Aggressively pursue business opportunities in current market conditions and develop strategies for future economic fluctuations, and company progression. In addition, provide continuous and ongoing business development (marketing & sales) support to secure profitable and continuous work ensuring companies core values continue to uphold a level of commitment and dedication to their people, clients and services.



EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:



Degree in business related field with 10 - 15 years of experience in a business development or marketing/sales capacity is required. Previous experience in a heavy industrial construction or

EPC company is considered an asset. Previous experience managing a team in a similar role is recommended.



QUALIFICATIONS:



This position must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision. The position requires someone with the ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding companies policies, procedures and software programs. This person must have the ability to develop and maintain business relationships through a mature, credible approach. Also, the position requires the person to identify and resolve any problems that may arise. In addition, this position must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills. This person must have excellent computer skills in database management, e-mail, spreadsheets and word processing. The Business Development Manager must be able to work with diverse personalities, maintain confidentiality and willing to travel.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



Target prospective clients for various work opportunities based on companies strategic plans and goals.
Develop and maintain client relationships ensuring contacts are maintained in appropriate database.
Assist in the development of project proposals and pre-qualifications ensuring that they are complete and presented in a professional and consistent manner.
Monitor new and emerging industry trends that could affect future business objectives.
Formulate new sales and marketing approaches or programs that will offer company the potential for significant profit.
Contribute to the development of the company profit center business plans and goals.
Develop strategies for management of client contacts regarding new work, contract negotiation, claims resolution, and potential future work.
Determine client needs and assist in the evaluation of the company resources and capabilities.
Develop information packages for future clients focusing on key areas of interest.
Maintain ongoing contact with past, present and future client contacts on all projects.
Ensure that quarterly critiques are conducted so that company can accurately monitor client needs and perceptions on current and past projects.

§ Coordinate work with other co-workers on the job.

§ Perform other duties as required by supervisor or manager



GENERAL FUNCTIONS:



Listen to directions and suggestions from supervisors or other employees regarding safe and proper work practices, evaluate that information and devise and implement a plan based on that evaluation for carrying out the duties of this position.
Proactively identify workplace safety hazards and take all necessary corrective actions to eliminate or minimize them.
Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different coloured warning tags, warning sirens).
Produce high-quality work that meets the requirements of company policies, procedures, industry standards, and client expectations.
§ Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed
