GENERAL MANAGER
Buchanan, MI

AMS is a 6 year old ISO 9001 registered Defense Contractor looking for an exceptional General Manager who wants to grow this successful business with an eye toward becoming the owner. This is a key, hands on position in a company with a $ 2.8 Million dollar machining backlog. The right person will oversee and direct all company operations including financial direction, CNC production machining, R&D, quality control, part programming, fixture building and procurement. Beyond full understanding of financial spreadsheets, you must understand and be capable of efficient programming using Mastercam Version 9.1, be adept at current fixture building techniques and be able to lead by example, both on the floor as well as from a strategic decision making position.

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Develop long and short term plans, goals and objectives - full P&L, cash flow and strategic financial goal setting. Strong Quickbooks and Excel knowledge is a must.

2. Provide technical capability to train staff on our variety of equipment as well as assist in programming, fixture design, CNC machine operation and conduct daily production management from the shop floor.

3. Establish, monitor and improve operational performance of our manufacturing personnel by recognizing, developing and utilizing employees' abilities to their fullest.

4. Support Quality Policy, standards and expectations through creation of quality and inspection procedures.

5. Provide leadership through mentoring, apprenticeship oversight and coaching to inspire others to succeed.

6. Assess and reorganize facility and equipment to optimize utilization.

7. Continuously meet customer quality and delivery commitments.

Skill and Educational Requirements:

Candidates selected for an interview will have 5+ years management and/or ownership experience in a fast paced manufacturing or industrial environment. Extensive practical knowledge of and experience in CNC production machining, modern CNC Mastercam programming and continuous improvement techniques is an absolute necessity. Successful experience working with skilled manufacturing personnel, supervisors and administrative people to lead and/or to resolve issues is required. Only those with a high level of interpersonal, motivational and communication skills will be considered. The ability to effectively use computer/IT ERP systems to improve performance is a plus. Undergraduate degree preferred, Masters/advanced degrees a plus.

If you have previous experience implementing cost saving techniques by set-up time reduction, cycle time reduction, scrap reduction and process improvements we will want to talk to you. Training in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques is a necessity.
