The company is currently looking for the right Distribution Manager for its distribution center in Winnipeg.


Position profile
Working in our client’s distribution centre in Winnipeg, your primary mandate will be leading, managing and optimizing distribution processes at the facility and overseeing all supply chain activities in the Prairie Region.

Key responsibilities
* Directing all distribution centre processes and operational activities, including determining labour requirements, allocating human resources, defining and establishing optimal operational behaviors and monitoring performance and effectiveness;
* Overseeing supply chain operations and activities in the Prairie Region, including warehousing, distribution and occupancy for 5 facilities;
* Leading coaching and mentoring an Operations Manager, a Supervisor and 30 distribution centre associates to achieve targets;
* Developing, controlling and analyzing a financial budget of approximately $4M;
* Establishing and achieving targets on all operational metrics;
* Hiring and retaining associates to build an effective team and a culture for operational and team excellence;
* Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with branch Sales leaders and liaising with other departments, head office and other branch locations;
* Driving continuous improvement across the distribution centre’s quality, health and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

* A proactive problem-solver with the strong communication and interpersonal skills required to successfully interact with senior management, co-workers and vendors;
* An effective manager and planner who stays organized, handles changes as they come and leads by example;
* An excellent project manager with the ability to multitask, prioritize, manage time wisely, make decisions under pressure and quickly learn new technologies and concepts;
* A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence and tact needed to comfortably deal with diverse personalities, treat all as equals and negotiate through confrontations to identify solutions.

Requirements

* Post secondary degree or two-year community college diploma in Distribution/Logistics management;
* Minimum three years of experience managing in a medium to large distribution center environment;
* Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written);
* Manitoba first aid certification;
* A proactive, solution-oriented focus and the ability to affect and influence desired behavior and results;
* Excellent skills with computers, communication, problem solving and people management (a must).
