Job Description:
Safety Technician
This opportunity is a permanent job located in Albany, NY. Salary is flexible and commensurate with experience.
Our client is a biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. In addition to a research laboratory they also operate a large-scale biologics pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Albany, NY area.
Primary Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Conducting and/or coordinating environmental health and safety (EHS) training sessions
Responding to and coordinating life safety system activations and testing
Oversight of and assistance of contracted personnel with general site and safety and environmental compliance
Interaction with regulatory agencies
Maintenance of safety supplies and personal protective equipment
Help to coordinate emergency response efforts
Assistance in implementation of EHS SOPs, policies, plans and programs
Adherence to current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
Current knowledge of chemical hazards and hazardous waste handling relative specific to Plant operations
Current knowledge of operations and implementation of life safety systems
Current knowledge of chemical and biological spill emergency response
Solid word processing, spreadsheet and database management software and programs
Ability to interpret technical data and drawings
BS in Environmental Science or a pertinent scientific field and 2+ years of EHS experience
