Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for cleaning and servicing assigned areas. Willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs cleaning and janitorial duties.
2. Assembles materials and supplies from the supply room and transports them to the work area.
3. Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings and equipment and moping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease.
4. Scours and polishes sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment.
5. Replenishes supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items.
6. Requests help in moving heavy items.
7. Washes walls using water, cleaning solutions, sponge, and cloths.
8. Gathers and disposes of trash, washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers, and relines with plastic bags.
9. Keeps janitor’s room neat and orderly, and reports supply orders to supervisor.
10. Assists in control of sanitation.
11. Assists in checking for safety hazards and reports any deficiency.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists with Material Handler duties as needed.
2. Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Must be able to endure long hours of continuous work.
2. Physical effort required by the job includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
3. Must know how to use common housecleaning implements, such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads, to keep areas clean and well serviced.
4. Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazards.
5. Ability to follow oral or written instructions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Minimum, grammar school or equivalent.
2. Previous cleaning experience.
