Job Description:

Job Summary: (Position is responsible For)

Develop and maintain artwork and documentation for the manufacture and assembly of printed circuit boards from engineering designs using various CAD and office productivity programs. Provide manufacturing support and documentation during product development and maintenance.

Essential Duties of this Position: (Typical Duties and Responsibilities)

Work with engineers to transfer a schematic design concept to a complete PCB which includes running design rules checks, correcting connectivity issues, creating/correcting CAD library parts, create or assist in creating PCB outlines, component placement and routing traces with engineer input when necessary.

Initiate electrical/placement/routing reviews throughout PCB layout and implement changes as necessary to achieve a final design that meets the design requirements.

Enter new components into manufacturing database, create bills of material, fabrication prints and assembly prints and implement in document control and manufacturing database.

Coordinate with Manufacturing and Purchasing departments for the procurement of prototype PCB’s, parts and materials, and allocation of resources necessary for assembly of prototype Printed Circuit Boards.

Process Engineering Change Orders against released products per the above duties. Develop/maintain other CAD drawings and documents as necessary.

Perform other duties within incumbent’s abilities.

Job Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Certifications, Math, Language Skills)

Four (4) years experience designing PCBs in a manufacturing environment. Computer literate; Two (2) years Microsoft Office, Altium Designer (Protel) experience preferred, AutoCAD, PADS, and PCAD a plus. Knowledge of flat and hierarchical design concepts. Working knowledge of MRP and database management helpful. Some electronics background preferred. Ability to take direction from multiple sources and in various formats. Attention to detail and consistency in finished work a must. Works without close supervision and has latitude to exercise independent judgment. Consults frequently with Management to apprise of pertinent matters and to obtain advice for approval for pending actions. Good technical communications skills and tolerance to change.

Work Environment: (Working Conditions, Physical Demands of Position)

Work is performed in an office environment with distractions, controlled climate and business casual. Ability to sit for prolonged periods, approximately 75% of the time. Must be able to walk throughout the plant approximately 25% of the time. Ability to lift occasionally up to 25lbs. Required to meet heavy deadlines. Must be able to use the following office equipment; calculator, copier, fax machine, scanner, stapler, tape dispenser, telephone, and cutter board. Must be able to perform job with 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses. Field of vision – the area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
