Position Overview:

Cargill Animal Nutrition is looking for a Trading Manager in Ferndale, WA to lead all aspects of the cost of goods sold operations (commodity trading, logistics, and value capture through the pricing process). This position must manage a large commodity risk position and make strategic merchandising/trading decisions on a large number of commodities for the business. Must understand how to utilize complex risk management tools to help the business manage commodity risk. Lead a team of traders and logistics personnel in the region. Ensure application of all proprietary tools related to the cost of goods sold responsibilities. Collaborate on opportunities with other Trading Managers in North America and globally. Must have very good communication with the business leadership of each business within the region/country as well as the Trading team in Minneapolis. Because this position is not in the same physical location as the management team in the region/country, it is important that this person have the ability to manage communications on a daily basis very well.


Principal Accountabilities:

30% Responsible for Trading team results in the region.
30% Manage the commodity risk and logistics for incoming ingredients for the entire region.
20% Help trade the key price sensitive commodities in the region.
10% Ensure value capture through the pricing process of all COGS activities.
10% Responsible for communicating trading game plans and strategy and Trading activities
to the GM at each region on a weekly and monthly basis.

Job Requirements:
Required:
4 year degree in business OR commensurate experience
Ability to travel 10-15%
5+ years of business management experience, preferably in the commodity trading business
Commodity risk management experience, including futures, and cash markets for hedging purposes
Strong skills to lead a team and work with other areas of our business like marketing production, sales and tech deployment
Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Must possess the ability to solve complex problems by involving others.
Requires high level of original and independent thinking: strategic position, problem solving, making complex deals, etc
Must be proficient in the use of basic business software (MS Office, Outlook)
