Job Description:
The Comptroller will be responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the District; for monitoring department policies and procedures and recommend improvements; and for consulting with the management team and external auditors in accordance with established Public Service Commission procedures and standards. The Comptroller will report directly to the General Manager and oversee budgeting, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, fixed asset management, capital spending, and cost accounting activities. Typical hours of work are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate would have a BA/BS degree in accounting, finance, or related degree with ten years experience in financial management in a governmental or public utility environment; have knowledge of the principles and practices of public utility accounting as used in multi-utility organization; have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officers, employees and the general public and regulatory officials. Typical hours of work are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday.
