Job Requirements: Routes and ties wires to form wire harness (cable) used in electrical and electronic equipment or systems by performing the following duties. May be responsible for assisting in the training and cross training of employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Reads instructions such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to understand materials needed and sequence of assembly.
Follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
Routes and ties wires to form wire harness (cable) used in electrical and electronic equipment or systems.
Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints.
Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
Selects wires of specified color, marking, or length, and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers on board or diagram.
Wraps and ties wires together at designated points to form harness.
Attaches ends of wires to components, connectors, terminal strip, or terminals.
Inserts cable in plastic tubing or injects plastic sealant around terminals to protect cable from dust and moisture.
Tests wiring continuity with continuity tester.
Marks identifying data on completed harness.
Solders together components to assemble items, as specified by work orders, diagrams, or layout.
Aligns and clamps parts together, or positions fixtures, jigs, or vise.
Dips workpiece into molten solder or places solder strip between seams and heats seam with iron to sweat items together.
Ability to train Assembler 1 and Assembler 2 in the essential job duties and functions
Five plus years of experience.
