Job Description:
The plant operator will be supporting the startup operations of a biodiesel pilot plant. Routine duties include sampling and transferring raw materials and finished products. The plant operator will be required to monitor the process and make modifications in the plant in order to make on-spec finished product. The plant operator will receive direction from the Process Operations Leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will meet the following minimum qualifications: • Must have proven experience in at least one of the following fields: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting, industrial construction and maintenance • Able to read, understand, and follow safety procedures, and to work safely in a chemical plant environment • Education: High School diploma. College level courses, especially in Engineering, Chemistry, and Math are beneficial • Able to climb ladders and work on elevated structures • Able to operate valves and move 55 gallon drums • Able to read, understand, and follow operating instructions for a small chemical plant • Applicant must successfully pass a drug test and background check prior to employment
Job Requirements:
• The plant is currently running two 12 hour shifts, Monday-Thursday, with overtime required as necessary to support pilot plant production. The shifts currently start at 5:45 and end at 6:00 (ie, 5:45am start for shift change overlap, and 6pm shift end). A contractor on day or night shift could currently be accommodated. • Work will be scheduled on Rotating Day/Night Shifts (4 on, 4 off) in the upcoming months • The work is mainly inside of a building, with a small amount of outside activity • The job will also involve sampling the process, and communication with lab technicians and fellow operators
