Job Description:
• Assist in the execution of all aspects of building a Habitat house from lot clearing to final inspections and punch list.
• Ensure that volunteers have a safe, productive and fun building experience.
• Identify and maintain a flow of task assignments that will make good use of volunteers’ time, engaging them as soon as possible after they arrive on site and keeping them productively busy throughout the day. Note: If the member does not already know how to perform an upcoming task, he/she can look to the Project Managers for training and practice.
• For each task on site, establish work teams, teach volunteers how to do the task safely and efficiently, teach them how to use appropriate tools, and guide their work to ensure quality and safety.
• Train core volunteers willing to become task leaders in approved methods of construction and the best way to use volunteers to perform each task (training the trainers
Job Requirements:
The ability to get around on a rough-graded construction site, climb stairs, climb three levels of scaffolding, carry at least 30 lbs of materials and/or equipment. The member will have access to all equipment to include tools, building materials, and trucks. We have a warehouse that houses our equipment, and the members will have access to keys to the warehouse, trucks, and houses in progress. The member will be assigned his or her own Habitatcfc.org e-mail address and will have access to the shared computer in the construction office, which has internet and e-mail access.
This is a national service opportunity not a salary based position.
