Job Description:
Basic Job Function: Manage all department activities including but not limited to the preparation of short and long-term mine and LOM plans, mine surveying, mine geology, ore control and geotechnical monitoring. In addition, responsible for providing technical guidance/support for site-wide projects (e.g. Ruth Expansion), environmental resources and process departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Direct involvement with, and technical oversight of, the creation, refinement, and implementation of the LOM mine plan (all inclusive of scheduling; pit designs; road designs; dump designs; facility planning; hydrology; reclamation) to maximize property NPV.
Direct involvement with, and technical oversight of, the creation, refinement, and implementation of the short term mine plan (material sequence; ore/waste delivery; access planning; pit design; shot muck inventory; blast design and planning; dump sequencing) to attain the LOM objectives.
Responsible for mine surveying activities (design; blasthole patterns; ore control; underground hazards; inter-department requests).
Coordinate mine geology activities including daily ore control; reconciliation; monthly reporting; royalty reporting; geologic mapping; geotechnical support; highwall monitoring and mapping.
Direct involvement with technical evaluation and/or support of long term and short term projects (e.g. reclamation; hydrology; leach pad design; dump design; third party engineering studies; blasting techniques & procedures; geotechnical evaluations).
1. Previous Work Experience Required: 10 years mine engineering and/or technical/operational experience in an open pit mining environment. Supervisory experience and prior experience in mine planning, surveying, mine geology and ore control are preferred. Operational experience is a plus.
2. Education, Special Skills, and Knowledge Required:
Education: B.S. Mining Engineering, Geology or Geologic Engineering.
Special Skills and/or Knowledge: Strong communication & problem solving skills. Must be able to work closely with peers, superiors and direct reports. Working knowledge of mine planning software, AutoCAD, word processing and spreadsheet programs.
3. Equipment, Computers, and/or Machinery the Incumbent is Required to Operate: Microsoft computer systems
