Job Description:
1. Provide guidance and geologic support for long range planning and mine development.
2. Coordinate acquisition of geological data with exploration, mine geology, and engineering departments to identify current and future reserves.
3. Work with management, engineering, and financial groups to analyse and write documents justifying major project appropriations.
4. Provide geologic support to environmental department for planning and permitting activities.
6. Conducts research into structural, geochemical, geophysical techniques and other geologic computerized methods for use in targeting deep and perimeter ore body opportunities.
Job Requirements:
Received: General Superintendent Technical Services
Exercised: Staff Geologists and Geologic Technicians
12 years experience in mine open pit geology. Must be familiar with process and project evaluation methods, including reserve and resource evaluation. Should have experience with resource development, geotechnical programs, and proper sample protocol.
BS Geology or Geological Engineering with an MS in related field desirable
Good communication and people skills must be familiar with project financial analysis, and a working knowledge of reserve estimation methods.
Must be proficient in utilizing computers and appropriate software programs for database manipulation, spreadsheets and statistical analysis. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.
