This AmeriCorp VISTA position requires a motivated self-starter with the confidence to implement community change programs. You will work with a minimum of supervision, partnering with the existing community specialists as you contribute to ongoing neighborhood revitalization.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Community Mobilizer will cultivate volunteer leadership and identify appropriate community resources. You will work with a minimum of supervision, partnering with the existing community specialists as you contribute to ongoing neighborhood revitalization. This will require organization and communication with diverse populations to encourage planning and capacity building. The Community Mobilizer will be responsible for encouraging active participation by neighborhood residents in order to empower them to participate in decision-making and create positive change. Indicators of increased participation will include improved attendance at Chesney Park Neighborhood meetings. Indicators of positive change will include improvements in housing tenure, housing conditions, and public safety as measured by the City of Topeka.
