Job Description: Mechanical Engineer – MEP Engineering
Reports to Group Leader
Responsibilities (in order of importance): • Responsible for all aspects of the project design for discipline, which could encompass particular tasks or the entire project, working with Senior Engineer / Chief Engineer / Principal as needed for guidance. • Responsible for those design tasks assigned, and for quality of work in developing final construction documents from established concept designs or Design Development drawings. • Participates where requested in client interface and meetings. • Interfaces with other disciplines within the MEP team for coordination, as well as the other disciplines and studios in the firm. • Supports Project Manager during the design and construction phases. • Has the ability to actively participate in all phases of a project including, but not limited to: site investigations; report preparation; concept design; client interaction, design and contract documents; specifications; and the construction administration process; • Understands the project budget from the start and plans the design process to meet the deliverables and budget. • Heavy production load • Engineering tasks (with varying responsibilities dependent upon project magnitude) include, but are not limited to, the following: o Design drafting of construction documents using AutoCAD o Heat load calculations, psychometric analyses and process calculations o Selection of HVAC equipment. At a basic level – split system and packaged RTUs and selection of direct expansion systems. At a more complex level – involved with hydronic and VAV systems. o Air distribution design – ductwork and diffusers o Preparation and selection of equipment schedules o Study and apply the applicable codes o Energy analyses; energy code compliance calculations o Construction specifications • Goal of 85% chargeable minimum
Job Requirements: Experience / Qualifications / Requirements
• 7-10 Years Engineering experience, 5 years minimum Industry experience at an Architecture firm • BS Engineering discipline • PE Registration • Demonstrated ability to provide quality construction documents working in a production and design role, Strong AutoCAD skills and knowledge of software • Strong communication skills, ability to positively affect Design and Production Staff • Computer proficiency, AutoCAD experience, strong in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
