Job Description:
The Mid Atlantic Aerospace Complex (MAAC), located in Bridgeport, West Virginia, is seeking an Aerospace Education Coordinator (AEC) to assist with the continued development and implementation a major outreach and education program. This Aerospace Education Program will help provide the foundation for continued West Virginia aerospace industry growth and success. The mission of this program is to inspire and motivate middle and high school students to pursue scientific and engineering careers. This, in turn, will provide the local aerospace industry with a conveniently located, skilled labor pool to draw upon when filling in-house personnel requirements.

Responsibilities: The AEC will be directly supervised by the MAAC Aerospace Education Director. The AEC will assist the Aerospace Education Director with the day-to-day execution of the MAAC Aerospace Education Program in the achievement of stated program objectives. The AEC will generate sufficient student interest in science and aerospace disciplines through the introduction of unique and fascinating educational opportunities in and out of the classroom. This will aid in filling aerospace vacancies within the colleges and universities of WV. The AEC will help “educate the educators” about the various aerospace education resources and curriculum that are available for presentation in the classroom. The AEC will work closely with NASA, the State of West Virginia local airport staffs, local aviation/aerospace companies, and school administrators at all levels of the educational system to coordinate and expand the development of a statewide aerospace career awareness education program for middle and high school age students. The AEC will assist with the organization of or participation in the following aerospace education-related activities: career fairs, aerospace industry days with local companies, guest speaker programs, school trips to aerospace museums, school aviation club involvement, student e-MissionTM, teacher e-MissionTM workshops, student summer camps, etc.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications: Self motivated individual with preferably 5-years professional corporate or mid level management experience and strong math and physical science skills. Curriculum development experience and the possession of outstanding presentation and communications skills are imperative. Should possess a general understanding of the West Virginia Legislative and Congressional processes and an understanding of the West Virginia educational system. Prefer candidate also to have a general knowledge of the State's aerospace industry makeup, an understanding of the current business climate of West Virginia and be skilled in information technology. Valid Driver's license, car and travel are required. A Bachelor's Degree is required with a Master's preferred.
