Job Description:
Inspect and evaluate imported Kobe Beef products to ensure the quality of the products meet with customers’ specifications as well as health codes. Ensure that products selected qualify for the specialized grades of Kobe beef. Inspect and verify that producers of Kobe beef in Japan are compliant with Japanese law. Ensure that imported products comply with FDA, HACCP and USDA regulations. Inspect and approve methods of packaging and shipping to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. Assist with customs paperwork and applications for permits. Be responsible for assuring that products approved for import are in full compliance with all applicable regulations governing the importation of meat products. Be responsible for verifying the accuracy of labels and foreign health certificates and examining products and containers to determine if the product is sound, wholesome, unadulterated, and meets U.S. requirements. Exercise authority and discretion to refuse any meat or product which, in his judgment, violates any of the requirements for admission into this country. Also to authorize acceptance of all Kobe beef considered to comply with Federal regulations and with quality norms and standards. Issue notification to customs, brokers, importers, etc., if products are refused and why.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agriculture, Biology or similar plus 1 year experience in job offered or as Product Specialist. Experience must have been gained in Kobe beef industry.
