Job Description:
Essential Functions

* Prepares statistical and narrative reports.
* Maintains the automated inventory control system; collects data to monitor and ensure the appropriate inventory levels for maintenance supplies and equipment are maintained; monitors the need for equipment replacement and contracted services.
* Maintains inventory records which document the value of the inventory and reconciles all discrepancies affecting the physical and book counts; ensures all District policies have been observed in the disposal of obsolete equipment materials.
* Consults with users to develop technical specifications for supplies, equipment and contracted services; resolves problems regarding the interpretation of specifications by vendors; reviews vendor performance and their capability to meet the needs of the Facilities Management and Services Division.
* Establishes and maintains contact with sources which can supply maintenance materials and equipment; keeps abreast of product changes and participates in the evaluation and testing of new products.
* Directs the work of clerical and technical personnel engaged in procurement activities to ensure adherence to contract requirements.


Job Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Demonstrated Knowledge of:
o Principles and practices of materials management.
o Procedures utilized to manage a computerized inventory control system.
o Methods used to record the physical and book value of the inventory.
o Supervisory principles and contracted services.

Ability to:

* Interpret technical literature and develop specifications for supplies, equipment and contracted services.
* Monitor the need for equipment replacement and contracted services.
* Develop and implement inventory practices and procedures.
* Plan, assign and review the work of staff engaged in inventory control and procurement related activities.
* Use a personal computer.
* Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
